and concussions are common in athletes, traumatic accident victims and elderly
falling patients who experience injuries to the head. Over time, these hits can
affect the brain, resulting in cumulative damage and long lasting problems,
such as post-concussive syndrome. Small or mild concussions due to normal life
activities can also directly affect your brain function.
MeRT uses
a proprietary brain wave analysis to identify the exact areas in the brain that
are not functioning or communicating properly. People who have suffered a brain
injury or concussion will have distinct biomarkers visible in QEEG
studies. Research has shown that people who have sustained a head injury
will show patterns of low power in their Alpha brainwaves and higher power in
their Theta and Delta brainwaves, which are slower functioning brainwaves.
